FAQs from Our Toledo CPA Firm
What kind of work can I expect to do my first year?
Do employees interact outside of work?
Ryan: Outside of work we often have firm sponsored sports and activities. The GJM softball team has drawn a large amount of fans and participants. GJM employees have also gone out for dinner and drinks after work on occasion.
Wes: Absolutely! Over the years the firm has done a great job in providing employees opportunities to interact outside of work. Over the past 7 years the firm has sponsored
sand volleyball teams, golf outings, picnics, mud hens outings, Holiday parties, April 15th parties and most recently a softball team. These events allow us time outside of work to interact with each other on a different level. I consider several people at this firm my good friends.
What is the work atmosphere like?
Holly: Fun! No matter what kind of work we are doing we always seem to find a way to have a good time. At GJM, we work hard, but have a good time doing so. The variety of activities like the Big Brothers Big Sisters Christmas Party or Relay for Life that the firm is involved in helps tremendously. Usually throughout the year in the office we hold ice cream socials, corn hole tournaments, and several other various games and competitions.
All of these events make GJM a fun place to work.
What type of training can I expect?
audit process.
What made you choose to work at GJM?
Aaron: One of my biggest reasons for choosing to work at GJM is that I felt more comfortable with everyone I met at GJM throughout the interview process than at other area firms. I felt that GJM was a better “fit” me than other firms. And although GJM is a local firm with one office, we are a part of the McGladrey Alliance and over 70 people work in the office.
Caitlin: Once I met people from GJM at the Career Expo, I knew it was the ideal place for me. My audit internship gave me valuable experience so I was well prepared to start my new career. The firm’s emphasis on work-life balance has allowed me to start a professional life while staying involved in outside activities. I am confident that the opportunities I have at GJM are providing me with a solid background for the rest of my career.”
P.J.: I chose GJM for multiple reasons, but the main reason being the people. Throughout the interview process, it was apparent to me that the main factor that sets one firm apart from another
is the staff. At the end of the day, most firms are going to offer a training program, exceptional benefits, and great compensation but if you do not enjoy the environment in which you work, then it is all for nothing. GJM has a great team working environment and the people are friendly and easy to get along with. Additionally, I feel that GJM is a premiere firm that stands out among the other firms within Northwest Ohio. It is a local/regional firm with a big firm reputation but a small firm atmosphere
Ryan: I chose GJM because of the people. As college student going through the interview process looking for interns I was very impressed with the congeniality of the recruiters as well as the entire firm when I was shown around. Through out my internship everyone was interested in getting to know me and cared about me as a person and not just the work I was doing. I really liked the open door policy and up beat attitude that is spread throughout the firm.
